Let's Talk About Finley

Finley is considered a unisex name in today's time. Its meaning is "fair-haired hero." It fits in well with the trend of two syllable names ending in "-ley," as well as with the trend of "Finn" names. The Finn nickname is one of it's greatest assets for boys, but the softness of the name makes it fit for girls.

Taking a look at US Popularity lists, Finley came up at #290 for girls in 2013 and #483 for boys. The girls may slowly be taking over the name, but as of now it isn't odd to see it on a boy by any means.

Several celebrities have chosen the name. NCIS: LA star Chris O'Donnell donned his son with the name in 2006, his other kids are Lily, Chip, Charlie, and Maeve. Jason Sehorn, former NY Giants cornerback, and his wife, actress Angie Harmon, chose Finley for their daughter. Finley Faith Sehorn's sisters are Emery Hope and Avery Grace. Lisa Marie Presley chose for one of her daughters as well, twin to Harper.

Would you ever consider Finley for your child? Would you use it on a boy or a girl? What middle name would you select?
